The hamlet of Greenvale is an unincorporated area located in the Town of North Hempstead, in Nassau County, New York. It has a total area of approximately 0.3 square miles. Greenvale is situated north of East Hills, south of Roslyn Harbor, east of Roslyn Harbor, and west of Old Brookville and East Hills. Major east/west traffic arteries serving the area include Northern Boulevard (Route 25A) and the Long Island Expressway. The main north/south roadways serving the area include Glen Cove Road, Route 107, and the Meadowbrook State Parkway. Public bus transportation is provided along Glen Cove Road and Northern Boulevard. Commuter rail service is available at the Long Island Railroad's Greenvale station, located about a half mile north of the intersection at Northern Boulevard and Glen Cove Road. Greenvale is a predominantly residential community, with commercial development such as retail and service shops primarily located along the main thoroughfares throughout the area. Schools, hospitals, houses of worship and recreational facilities area conveniently located throughout the area. Historical fact: It wasn't till around the middle of the 19th century that Greenvale was given its current name. Before then, the tiny community of villagers occupying the land referred to it as 'Cedar Swamp'. Greenvale is served by the zip code 11548. The estimated 2010 population is 959.
